The New Netflix Contender

As previously rumored, Apple held an event titled “Show time” to introduce new service contributions. There is one of the most interesting services that Apple launched in that opportunity, which is a paid online video streaming service similar to Netflix under the name Apple TV Plus. Indeed, Apple TV + service is indeed similar to Netflix. These two video streaming services allow users to watch a variety of TV series, films and documentaries. Content on Apple TV + can also be downloaded and watched offline, just like the Netflix streaming service. The difference, Apple TV + provides access to pay TV channels, such as HBO, Showtime, CBS, Starz, and so on. Apple also provides content specifically for children and sports programs such as football lovers.

In addition, Apple also claims not to insert ads on its video streaming service. Although ad-free, it’s not yet known what price users must pay if they want to enjoy this service. However, as a comparison, Netflix sets the price of US $ 8.99 (around Rp. 127,000) to US $ 15.99 (around Rp. 226,000) per month to enjoy the content inside. For its own availability, Apple TV + itself can be enjoyed by Apple device users (iPad / iPhone / iPod Touch) starting in May. Especially for Mac series computers, Apple TV + will visit this device around the fall of 2019.

Apple’s streaming service will also be available on several Smart TVs made by electronic manufacturers, such as Samsung, Sony, Vizio, and LG Electronics. Amazon and Roku’s set-top-box (STB) devices will also be visited by this service in the future. However, it is not yet known when it will be present in these two devices.

Series Star

To introduce Apple TV +, Apple hooked several famous stars such as filmmakers Steven Spielberg and J.J. Abrams. There are also some famous celebrities like Jennifer Aniston, Jason Momoa, to Oprah Winfrey. They are hooked by Apple is not without reason. Some of the famous people mentioned above had collaborated with Apple to produce projects or exclusive content for Apple TV + users.

The exclusive content targets various target audiences, from adults to children. Some of them are Little America, for educational content containing the history of American immigrants, as well as “Helpsters”, a special program for children created by Apple in collaboration with iconic cartoon maker Sesame Street. Also launching three other services In addition to Apple TV + excellent service, Apple also launched several other services to facilitate users in enjoying content from Apple.

The services include news subscription services, credit card services, to game services, as summarized by KompasTekno from CNBC, Wednesday (3/27/2019). Apple News Plus news services and magazines allow users to read and browse up to about 300 digital magazines in the Apple News application. This premium content will be enjoyed by users by spending US $ 9.99 or around Rp 141,000 per month and only available in the US and Canada. Apple also introduced the latest titanium-based physical credit card called the Apple Card. Later, Apple Card owners can use the card for various credit transactions, both physically and digitally, and can be synchronized with the Wallet application on the user’s iOS device. There is also a gaming service called Apple Arcade that allows users to play more than 100 exclusive game titles from Apple. This service will be available around the fall of this year and the official price of the subscription has not been informed by Apple.

Release Date

Disney Plus streaming service will soon be released on November 12, 2019 for five regions, including: the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and the Netherlands. There has been no official confirmation that this streaming service will be released in Indonesia.
However, ScreenRant reports that Disney will continue to try to bring its Disney Plus streaming service to “all major markets in the first two years”, so this allows the launch of Disney Plus to be more widespread over time.

Perfect Cost ?

Disney Plus services can be enjoyed with a subscription fee of 7 dollars per month or around 70 dollars per year. However, do not be surprised if at any time the subscription fee increases rapidly.
In the United States, Disney Plus keeps its promise to provide a lower fee than the Netflix subscription fee, at least for now.

In addition, Disney also offers potential users with a package that will certainly rival Netflix in terms of price. In this case, Disney Plus offers a subscription fee of 12.99 dollars to be able to watch upstream services (with ads), ESPN +, and Disney Plus itself. The same fee as if you want to subscribe to Netflix. This is an attractive offer if you want the three services at once or if you live with your family, so you can enjoy the shows offered according to each age.

What You’ll Get

Customers from Disney Plus will get a variety of films that have been screened in theaters, such as: Frozen 2, Toy Story 4, Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker, and live action remake of the Lion King
In addition, it is estimated that customers will be presented by around 7,000 television series episodes and 400 to 500 films when the service is launched, including some of the shows and films mentioned above. And for Marvel fans, cheer up. The reason is, you will not only get marvel films that have been shown in theaters, but will also get original shows from the TV series and some spin-offs from your favorite marvel characters such as; Falcon, Winter Soldier, Loki, Scarlett Witch, Vision, and Hawkeye.
You can watch Disney Plus through iOS, Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Android, Android TV, Playstation 4, Roku, and Xbox One when officially launched in November 2019.

With all the things mentioned above, of course, making competition between media streaming services become more intense between Apple and Netflix. In fact, someones said, Disney was the one who made Netflix cancel the fourth season Daredevil series which was actually planned to be released in early 2019. This was also compounded by the Disney movement that began to revoke the copyright of film and television projects licensed to Netflix, as we know that Marvel is under the auspices of the giant Disney company. This made fans believe that it was possible that in these ways Disney had enough ammunition to launch many marvel spin-offs such as: WandaVision, Loki, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Hawkeye and many others that Disney wanted to prepare as a hub between MCU and exclusive serials Disney have. Interesting right ?
