Liquid Cooling system in Samsung Phone. This is not new technology in phone. Predecessor with Galaxy S7 in 2016. Samsung implemented this technology in new phone Galaxy note 9.
Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has better cooling system with the first one galaxy note 8. This pros come from better to reduce heat from internal components. This system called “Water Carbon System”. Water absorbs heat, then evaporates. Steam then flows through a special pipe to the “cold” area. Internal condensation occurs where steam releases heat, then returns to water that flows again into the processor area to absorb heat. The same process is repeated, over and over again, so the cooler can continuously reduce heat while the user is using a smartphone.

Heatpipe Technology Cooling System
The working method of the Galaxy Note 9’s “cooling” cooling system is actually similar to the heatpipe that has long been applied in the computer world. The liquid used as a heat conductor can be of various types, with a low or high boiling point, depending on temperature requirements. Liquid can be ammonia, liquid helium, to indium. In an explanation of how the Galaxy Note 9 coolant works, Samsung explains that the type of liquid used is “water”.
Heat delivery through this liquid is far more effective when compared to ordinary metal plates (copper or aluminum commonly used as cooling plates).
Similar mechanisms are also applied to the liquid or water cooler method in the form of a radiator on a computer. The difference with heatpipe, heat conductor liquid is not channeled through the process of evaporation and condensation. This Cooling system mechanically operated with the pump. Usually there is also a fan to help release heat.
In smartphones, the heatpipe cooling mechanism is often referred to as a “liquid cooler”. This Cooling system is passive (fanless) with a flat pipe so that the shape is compact and thin.
The first smartphone to use liquid cooling alias heatpipe is NEC Medias X in 2013.

Although it may have the same working mechanism, the effectiveness of the liquid cooling cooling system in reducing heat varies. The varies of cooling rate because many factors influence, such as design and material.
For the Galaxy Note 9, as stated in a post on its website, Samsung is trying to increase the heat reduction power so that it can be better than previous devices. The solution is to add a layer of copper between the heat conductors . This layer is thermal interface material. This material attaches directly to the processor made from conductive carbon fiber, to increase heat absorption power. In Computer also known as Thermal Paste.
“We also make a wider heat release pipe, with an area of 350 mm square, compared to 35 mm square on the Galaxy S9, to release heat on a larger surface,” Samsung wrote.
The more surface area, the faster the heat release. Samsung also claims the Galaxy Note 9’s cooling system has three times the heat absorption power compared to the Galaxy Note 8.
Cooling based liquid cooling or heatpipes on cell phones are born from the need to reduce heat which is getting higher and higher. This heat increasing similar with processor performance.
Besides Samsung, other cellphone manufacturers are starting to promote liquid cooling technology in their respective products. This Product Commonly with high performance such as Asus ROG Phone gaming phones and Xiaomi Black Shark.
