In the development of the history of human civilization, change becomes necessary. At present, the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 is familiar and has become a hot topic of discussion among academics, public policy makers, and economists. Because this era demands connectivity in all respects (the Internet of Thing), it is also believed to be able to bring significant changes to the world economy and quality of life.
Reporting from various media and journals, the era of the industrial revolution was first sparked by a group of expert representatives from various fields from Germany, in 2011 at the Hannover Trade Fair. It was explained that the industry is now entering a new innovation, where the production process is starting to change rapidly. The German government takes this idea seriously as an official idea, thus forming a special group in the mission of implementing industry 4.0. in addition, in 2015, Angella Markel was reintroduced and followed up at the World Economic Forum (WEF).
After Germany, the United States also mobilized the Smart Manufacturing Leadership Coalition (MLC), a non-profit organization consisting of producers, suppliers, companies, technology, government agencies, universities and laboratories whose aim is to advance the way of thinking behind the Industrial Revolution 4.0. However, in an idea that always arises a debate, whether the Industrial Revolution 4.0 is only an extension of the 3.0 industrial revolution or indeed a new innovation from industry 3.0 because experts find significant developments, in addition to the Internet of Thing (IoT), big data appears, 3D printing, artificial intelligence or can be called Artificial Intelligence (AI), vehicle without a driver, genetic engineering, robots and smart machines.
On the other hand, at the beginning of January 2019, new ideas were circulating that emerged from Japanese civilization there. Namely society 5.0 delivered at the 2019 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. This idea arose from the response of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 as a significant technological development, but the role of the community was very much a consideration for the occurrence of this industrial revolution 4.0.
Society 5.0 offers a human-centered society that makes a balance between economic progress and the resolution of social problems through a system that is highly connected through cyberspace and the real world. According to the Japanese prime minister, Shinzo Abe explained in the World Economic Forum (WEF), “In society 5.0 it is no longer capital, but data that connects and moves everything, helping to fill the gap between the rich and the disadvantaged. Medical and educational services, from elementary to tertiary level will reach small villages. “
In fact, the concepts of the industrial revolution 4.0 and society 5.0 do not have much difference. Namely the industrial revolution 4.0 uses artificial intelligence (artificial intelligence) while society 5.0 focuses on the human component. The concept of society 5.0 has become a new innovation from society 1.0 to society 4.0 in the history of human civilization.
Starting from society 1.0 humans are still in the era of hunting and familiar with writing. In society 2.0 is agriculture where humans have started to know farming. Then in society 3.0 has entered the industrial era that is when humans have begun to use machines to support their daily activities, after that came the society 4.0 that we experience today, namely humans who have known computers to the internet as well as its application in life.
If society 4.0 allows us to access also share information on the internet. Society 5.0 is an era where all technology is part of humanity itself. The internet is not only as information but to live life. So that technological developments can minimize the gap in humans and economic problems in the future.
It sounds very utopian. Moreover, Indonesia is a developing country that can even be said to be only a handful of people who know the Industrial Revolution 4.0 or society 5.0. Only among academics who are literate about the progress of their times, business people who do have business continuity interests, are also concerned public policy makers. Only a handful of people.
Educational institutions which are categorized as leading in Indonesia have not yet implemented the industry 4.0 and society 5.0 system. From the start of the education system, how to interact educators and educated, as well as the fertilization of the paradigm of modern thinking. As for the communities and organizations, some did discuss independently about the industrial revolution 4.0 and society 5.0, but only enough to become personal consumption because of limited power.
It should also be appreciated for this focus on social change, capitalizing on the criticism and sensitivity of young people so that communities and organizations have the provision to continue to innovate in each individual and within the scope of his organization. People in remote areas don’t even listen, including local officials to focus too much on personal interests and the parties that make them officials. Especially the people they lead. Especially in Banten, a province which is categorized as having a growing number of poor citizens.
According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Banten, the period March 2018, during the six months there was an increase to 7.38 thousand people. From the previous number of 661.36 thousand in March 2018, to 668.74 thousand people in September 2018. Though there are many potentials that can be optimized for abundant natural resources, as well as human resources that can be developed in potential. Only sad is left. However, the word ‘sad’ did not solve the problem. Need serious handling from the government.
Banten is just one small example in Indonesia that has a bad luck. There are still many other provinces that are lagging behind and which are worse off because of the ignorance of public policy makers. This becomes our homework together in an effort to improve the standard of living together.
