Talking about Internet of things is just never ends because Internet of things doesn’t has a fixed definition there’s always a lot fo opinion about internet of things.But, we can determine whether a part is an Internet of things or not with the following question : whether a product can work with other products and can exchange data? Or whether a product with vendor A can communicate with product with vendor B well?

So Internet of things is an concept where a product that has the ability to interact with other products and transfer data without requiring human-human or human-computer relations. Internet of things is the development of the convergence of wireless technology and the internet well.  internet of think has various capabilities for example in sharing data, organizing a device into remote control, and various other things. And some examples of the application of the internet of things in real life is in the management of food, electronics, early detection of disasters and various other machines or  technologies can be connected to the network through embedded sensors and always active.

               so the internet of things is how a machine or tool can be identified as a virtual representation in a structure on an internet basis.how the internet of things works With a brief explanation above actually how does the internet of things work? Internet of things works by being programmed in advance by the programmer where each command is or arguments in the program can produce an interaction between machines  which has been connected in a network both LANs and others. This interaction can work automatically without human intervention and without any limit on how far. It can be seen that the link between the two machines or devices is internet. Then do you ask where is the role of humans in the concept of the internet of things?Are humans unnecessary? certainly not humans have the task of being regulators and supervisor of these machines so they can work optimally and find fault or bugs that might appear. So the role of humans is also still needed even though it is a little.

The Internet of things is formed by a number of basic elements including artificial intelligence, connectivity, sensors, active involvement and the use of small devices. Here are some explanations, each of which I mentioned above briefly:

– Artificial intelligence – The Internet of things makes almost all machines available become connected and can work alone without human interaction or can be said to be “smart”. This means the Internet of things can change all aspects of our lives better Together with the development of technology based on artificial intelligence. So, the development of existing technology is done by collecting data. Artificial intelligence algorithms, and available networks. One simple example is Automatic heating is active when the temperature in the room is below 16 degrees Celsius or the refrigerator / refrigerator can tell and if your milk stock is about to run out directly to your device on the cellphone without having to open the refrigerator first. The network can be small and cheap, not necessarily large scale and expensive. Internet of things can create a small network within the device system.

-Sensor – This sensor is a differentiator that makes IoT unique compared to other sophisticated machines. This sensor is able to define instruments, which change IoT from standard networks and tend to be passive in the device, to become an active system that can be integrated into our everyday real world.Active Engagement (Engaging Active) – Engangement that is often applied to technology generally including passive. This IoT introduces a new paradigm for active content, products, and service involvement.Small Devices – Devices, as technology experts predict, are getting smaller, cheaper and stronger over time. IoT makes use of these small devices made specifically to produce accuracy, scalability, and good flexibility.

The Implementation of Internet Of things

Agriculture

There are various kinds of application of IoT in the agricultural sector. Some of them include collecting data on temperature, rainfall, humidity, wind speed, pest attack, and soil load. These data can be used to automate agricultural techniques. Then, it can also be used to make decisions (decision making) based on available information in order to improve quality and quantity, minimize risk and waste, and reduce the effort needed in managing plants. For example, farmers can now monitor soil temperatures and humidity remotely, and even apply data obtained by IoT for more precise fertilization programs.

Energy

A large number of devices that consume energy (such as switches, electrical outlets, lights, televisions, etc.) can now be integrated with internet connectivity. Then what is the impact? The integration allows machines or networks to communicate in balancing electricity generation and the use of energy that is more efficient or effective. This device can also allow remote control access from users, or it can also be management from one center through a cloud-based interface. In addition, it can also activate functions such as scheduling (for example to turn on / turn off the heating machine, control the oven, change the lighting conditions from bright to dim to dark, etc.). So with IoT in this field, systems can gather and act on information related to energy and power to improve the efficiency of electricity production and distribution.

Transportation

IoT can help humans in the integration of communication, control, and information processing in various existing transportation systems. The application of IoT is indeed continuously expanding to various aspects of the transportation system. Not only the engine technology, namely vehicles, but also infrastructure, and alluding to the function of the driver / user. The dynamic interactions that occur between the components come from a transportation system. The system allows inter-and intra-vehicle communication, more effective traffic control because it is classified as smart, smarter parking, logistics and fleet management, vehicle control, and also related to safety factors and road assistance.
