YouTube is a video sharing site that is widely used to share videos. Maybe you are already familiar with this one site. But did you know by whom and when was YouTube established?
YouTube site was founded by former PayPal workers, Steve Chen, Chad Hurley and Jawed Karim in February 2005. Reporting from Wikipedia, this site then turned into Google’s property at the end of 2006 until now.
Most of the content on this site is uploaded by individuals. However, several media companies such as CBS, BBC, Vevo, Hulu and other companies that publish their material through this site as a form of cooperation program.
Hurley and Chen first got the idea to set up this site because they had difficulty sharing videos. YouTube itself began to become a technology startup after receiving an investment from Sequola Capital of USD 11.5 million.
The first video uploaded on this site is titled “Me at the zoo” which shows one of YouTube’s founders at the San Diego Zoo. This video was uploaded on April 23, 2005 and can still be seen today.
Nowadays internet users can easily share videos via the YouTube site by only creating channels that can be registered for free.
