Creating a gaming laptop with a thin body is a challenge for the manufacturer. Not surprisingly, considering the thinner the laptop, the size of the cooling system also decreases, causing the cooling ability to decrease. Moreover, a gaming laptop is demanded to have high gaming performance so it must use powerful components that generally produce high heat.
Currently a thin gaming laptop with super fast performance can be easily realized thanks to the presence of the latest variant of the graphics card laptop from NVIDIA namely the GTX 10 Max-Q Series. The graphics card allows manufacturers to create thin gaming laptops with a body thickness of only 18 mm. By running the GTX 10 Series graphics card at its best work efficiency level, NVIDIA created the GTX 10 Max-Q Series which produces lower heat so it can be easily cooled using a cooling system with a small size. The GTX 10 Max-Q Series graphics card also uses less power than the normal version.

The Acer Predator Triton 700 is one of the thinnest gaming laptops on the market today powered by the GTX 10 Max-Q Series graphics card from NVIDIA. With a thickness of no more than 19 mm, this gaming laptop does not play for the performance sector by using the fastest variant of the GTX 10 Max-Q Series graphics card line. Not only that, this gaming laptop also presents a series of luxury gaming features that are ready to spoil anyone the gamer owner. What are the greatness that is trying to offer by this premium class gaming laptop? Check out the following review.

Inside the body as thin as the Acer Predator Triton 700, who would have thought if we could find a high-performance laptop processor class Intel Core i7 7700HQ in it. Core i7 7700HQ is built on the basis of the Kaby Lake CPU architecture with a fabrication process of 14+ nanometers. The Core i7 7700HQ is a quad core type processor but thanks to Hyper-Threading technology it is capable of working on eight computing processes at once making it suitable for handling applications that like massive numbers of threads. Core i7 7700HQ base clock speed value is 2.8 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 clock speed of 3.8 GHz when one core is working, 3.6 GHz when two cores are working, and 3.4 GHz when four cores are working.

Acer combines a Core i7 7700HQ processor with a socket FCBGA1440 motherboard based on the Intel HM175 chipset.

The Acer Predator Triton 700 for the Indonesian market is directly equipped with DDR4 (1.2 Volt) memory / RAM with a capacity of 32 GB. That large capacity is the maximum memory / RAM capacity supported by this gaming laptop. This gaming laptop uses a dual channel memory configuration using two pieces of memory / RAM with a capacity of 16 GB each. Interestingly, the Acer Predator Triton 700 uses memory chips / RAM with a speed of 2666 MHz. In general, gaming laptops use memory / RAM chips at 2400 MHz.

The GeForce GTX 10 Series Max-Q graphics card is the manufacturer’s favorite choice for creating thin gaming laptops with the exception of the Acer Predator Triton 700. Not only that, to ensure that the best gaming experience is felt by owners of the Acer Predator Triton 700, this gaming laptop uses the GeForce GTX 1080 Max-Q which is currently the fastest variant of the graphics card series. Of course the same as other GTX 1080 variants, GTX 1080 Max-Q is also powered by GP104 GPUs with specifications of 2560 CUDA Cores, 160 Texture Units, and 64 ROP Units. The GPU is integrated with GDDR5X type / VRAM memory which is connected via a 256-bit memory bus.

The implementation of NVIDIA Max-Q technology allows manufacturers to create thin gaming laptops with a thickness of no more than 18 mm. The key behind Max-Q Design technology is to look for the highest point of work efficiency where an increase in GPU clock still results in an increase in relevant performance. NVIDIA found that when it passed a certain point, an increase in GPU clock does not result in an increase in performance commensurate with the use of electricity and also the heat generated. Therefore graphics cards with NVIDIA Max-Q Design technology are operated at the most efficient clock speed, not as high as the standard variants. With such clock speed specifications, the heat generated by the graphics card becomes lower so that the laptop cooling system can be made smaller. The size of the laptop can be made smaller and thinner. Not only that, the fan can also be operated at a lower speed so that noise is reduced.

GeForce GTX 1080 Max-Q on the Acer Predator Triton 700 has three working speed modes namely Normal, Faster, and Turbo. In Normal mode, the working speed of the graphics card is base / turbo 1290 MHz / 1468 MHz with memory / VRAM speed of 10008 MHz (effective). While in Faster mode, the working speed of the graphics card rises to base / turbo 1365 MHz / 1543 MHz with a memory / VRAM speed of 10408 MHz (effective). Whereas in the highest Turbo mode, the working speed of the graphics card rises even higher to base / turbo 1440 MHz / 1618 MHz with memory / VRAM speed 10808 MHz (effective).
The Acer Predator Triton 700 does not activate the NVIDIA Optimus feature so that the discrete graphics card will continue to be on. On the one hand this makes the laptop usage time very short when using battery power. Even so this also has a positive side where all the games will certainly always run by GTX 1080 Max-Q. The presence of the NVIDIA G-Sync feature also makes the NVIDIA Optimus feature not possible to be activated on this gaming laptop because the graphics card must be connected directly to the monitor.
